This was a scene illustration of Beth Harmon, the chess playing prodigy as I see her from Walter Tevis' novel 'The Queen's Gambit'. I tracked down an image of her 'Modern Chess Openings' book she receives as a gift from the janitor. It's an important item in the novel so I gave it the Maya treatment and that's what she's perched on in the picture.
